REMAR, an international foundation with branches in a number of countries including Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, Italy, Ghana, La Cote D’Iviore, Cameroon, Togo, Benin, Nigeria and others across the globe today held their 9th Annual Congress at the Main Auditorium of the Dansoman Branch in Accra. The 9th Annual Congress which is on the theme “LEVA – War Against Evil” is actually a 3-day Programme and so would end come Sunday 17th June 2018.
Today’s programme was packed with Prayer, Worship, Praises and Teachings from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There were choreography from in-mates from the Nsawam Branch. Video Documentaries of the genesis of REMAR-GHANA was showcased. Numerous testimonies of in-mates who have experienced various levels of transformations in their lives were shared on the day. REMAR-LA COTE D’IVIORE performed a Drama Sketch on the “Last Supper” of Jesus Christ with His Disciples and the “Crucifixion” of Christ.
In an interview with officials of the foundation, one unique thing was realized which is the great positive change that REMAR guarantees the in-mates during and after their rehabilitation processes. The Rehabilitation Process especially with drug addiction is in Four-Stages, and starts with the Isolation Stage where the in-mate is taken away from their comfort zone where it is believed these in-mates easily get access to these drugs and friends who might lure them back into the addiction. This is followed by the Vocation Stage where the in-mate learns a trade or vocation or decides to go back to school. The next is the Volunteer Stage where the in-mate serves within REMAR for a number of years and finally, there is the Missionary/Re-integration Stage where the in-mates now passes as a full fledged member of society and therefore takes on responsibility of catering for others, this is the point where most in-mates marry and for that matter start their own family.
The Country Director for REMAR-GHANA, Pastor Valentine Kouasie on his part implored the current government to aide the foundation in getting their number of containers of donations at the Tema Ports cleared to enable them continue to cater for the in-mates. According to Pastor Valentine REMAR-GHANA has been in existence for the past 25 years ahead of all other branches within Africa but till date all benefits and privileges that other African countries have offered REMAR is yet to be offered to REMAR-GHANA. Pastor Valentine indicated that any form of help from any one to REMAR-GHANA could be directed to the Dansoman Office situated at Dansoman-Control.
The Executive Director of REMAR-AFRICA, Pastor Fernando on his part talked of the numerous achievements of REMAR where the foundation started from in 1991 till its present level and from all indications it had really been a journey worthwhile. Pastor Osei Agyemang the Country Director for REMAR-TOGO on his part urged all who are still in the habit of drug addiction and other vices to endeavor to join REMAR for a better future for God can change any one for good no matter what the fellow’s situation is.
Prisons Officer Larry on his part acknowledged the enormous help REMAR-GHANA had offered the Ghana Prisons Service at various levels in rehabilitating in-mates of the various Prison Cells before their release into society after serving their Prison term. He further urged philanthropists to come to the aide of REMAR-GHANA for consistency in the performance of REMAR-GHANA to be sustained.
Some in-mates; Sandra, Blessing and Ayisi in sharing their experiences indicated that, REMAR is not only about people who are drug addicts but rather REMAR is for all that need genuine help and progress in life both physically, mentally and spiritually.
